Olivier Philipponneau

Presentation
Olivier Philipponneau has been breeding dromedaries since 2008. His fascination with these majestic animals began by chance when he watched a documentary on dromedary racing. In 2003, Olivier participated in the international dromedary marathon in Douz, Tunisia, under the organization of François Brey. He founded the Dromas association in 2005 and brought together other enthusiasts to participate in the Tunisian events, becoming the coach of the French dromedary jockey team. In 2010, he organized and won the first French Cup for dromedary racing in France at the La Roche-Posay racecourse.
This experience propelled him to become one of the first French and Europeans recognized in the world of dromedary racing in Africa and the Middle East.
A pioneer in this field, he plays a role in representing French and European breeders. In 2017, he founded the Fédération Française des Chameaux (FFC) with people linked by their activities to camelids. During the same period, he collaborated with the founding members of ECROA (European Camel Breeders Association) for the creation of a structure representing camel breeders in Europe. He became the president of ECROA on January 1, 2025. He chaired the FFC from 2017 to 2021, then from 2023 until today, succeeding the presidency of Françoise Dureuil.
In 2021, he collaborated as an animal advisor on the film "Zodi and Téhu, brothers of the desert" in Morocco and Abu Dhabi.
Olivier actively works on camelid welfare services, offering insurance and defending the interests of breeders, amateurs and professionals, of large camelids.
He collaborates with the International Camel Racing Federation (WCS).
Today, as a breeder and trainer, he offers animal mediation workshops. Olivier has established his activities in the Aisne of Hauts de France, in Thenailles in Thiérache. 🐪
